Eid-e-Milad also known as Mawlid al-Nabi, is the day when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Mecca in 570 CE. It was first observed 100rds of years later during the Fatimid dynasty in the 11th century, rising up from intimate gatherings to public displays. The Festival is about both things the birthday of the Prophet and the day of his congregation. If tradition in certain locations may involve myriad practices, the principle of Eid-e-Milad is identical in all of them – paying respect to the life and preachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)
