    Story of Anant Chaturdashi

According to the Mahabharata, the Kauravas deceitfully defeated the Pandavas in a game of dice, forcing them into exile. During their time of suffering, Lord Krishna visited them. Upon seeing Lord Krishna, Yudhishthira requested a way to end their hardships and regain their kingdom. Lord Krishna advised Yudhishthira to observe the fast of Bhadra Shukla Chaturdashi and worship Anant Bhagwan (Lord Vishnu).

When Yudhishthira asked who Anant Bhagwan was, Lord Krishna explained that he is a form of Lord Vishnu. During the Chaturmas period, Lord Vishnu rests on the Sheshnag (serpent bed) in an eternal sleep, which is why he is called “Anant” (infinite). It is said that in his Vamana Avatar, he measured the entire universe in just two steps. Since his beginning and end are unknown, he is called Anant (endless). Lord Krishna assured that worshiping Anant Bhagwan would remove all their sufferings. Following this advice, Yudhishthira observed the fast, and the Pandavas eventually regained their kingdom.
